I write psychological and crime thrillers meant to keep you up all night. Some of it comes from imagination. Some of it comes from the four years my family and I spent inside a cult — and I’ve never quite been able to keep that out of my fiction. I think that’s why readers tell me it feels real.
My novels — The Teaching, The Abduction, The Crisis, and others — have been honored by the Chanticleer Global Thriller Awards, Literary Titan, BookLife, and Readers’ Favorite. I’m a member of International Thriller Writers, and somewhere along the way I picked up a master’s degree in computer information systems, which explains less about my books than you’d think.
When I’m not writing, I’m probably running. I’ve finished a marathon in all fifty states — I’m working my way through all fifty a second time —and survived an IRONMAN, twice. I live in Colorado with my wife and two rescue dogs I call my muses. Chaz, a cocker spaniel who’s certain the world owes him a cookie at 4:00pm sharp, and Muñeca, a street dog I brought home from Mexico who keeps the bad people in my books away from me so I can write.

Muñeca
A street dog I found fending for herself in a Mexican village. She opens things with her paws, has strong opinions about the wind, and — I’m convinced — keeps the bad people in my books away from me so I can write.
Chaz
Raised entirely indoors, pampered to his bones, and utterly certain the universe owes him a cookie at 4:00 sharp. He begins his campaign at 3:40.
